Statistics for the Class of 2014

Here are some preliminary numbers for you to crunch on. Please understand that I do not have additional statistics. I am giving you all I can right now and the office is very, very busy today. Statistics for previous years were shared last week.

The Office of Institutional Assessment is the source of all official statistics about UVa. Their website will update in time with more data.

Total number of applications: 22,516 (up from 21,839 last year)
Total number of VA apps: 7,964
Total number of OOS apps: 14,652

Overall offers: 6,907 total offers
Total VA offers: 3,380 offers (42.4%)
Total OOS offers: 3,527 offers (24%)

Enrollment goal: 3,240 first-year students

Middle 50% on the first two parts of the SAT (offers only): 1300-1480
% in the top 10% of their high school class (offers only): 93.8

The offers numbers for VA and OOS are similar because yield for OOS is generally lower.

BUMMER?

UVA needs to lower its acceptance rate to match those of UChicago, Northwestern and Duke, if it ever wants to be taken seriously.

And you believe that being named a "Southern Ivy" as well as a "Public Ivy" and being named one of the top 50 schools in the country means that U.Va. is not being taken seriously?

could anybody tell me what a 1300-1480 equates to on the ACT?

Isn't UVA ranked 25? LOL, some people are delusional.

I know 30 on the ACT is equivalent to 1340 on the SAT

How many of the applicants were legacy students?

I'm giving you all the numbers I have right now. I don't have legacy information.

All the schools mentioned in these comments are wonderful schools. If you prefer others, please feel free to discuss their merits on their admission blogs.

This blog is here to support our applicants.
