A Statement from Dean Roberts
This afternoon, Dean Roberts asked me to share a statement on social media for him. He wrote this for anyone worried that colleges will penalize students for peacefully taking part in protests organized in response to the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Missing Mid-Year Reports Cause Delays!
For the last few weeks, our staff has been reaching out to students and schools to track down missing application credentials. We've sent a couple reminder emails to students with items on their SIS to-do lists and have been processing documents that arrive electronically and by mail as quickly as possible. Most of the missing items are mid-year reports.
We have reached the point where the review process (and perhaps the notification date) is going to be delayed. We can't finalize our decisions without mid-year grades. If the mid-year report is still on your to-do list, it would be best for your counselor to email a first semester report card to uvaapplicationinfo@virginia.edu. A full transcript is not necessary. Do not email individual admission officers, as this delays filing.
By the way, it may have been quiet on the blog for the last couple weeks, but I've been having so many great conversations with students via Instagram! I've been holding live Q&A sessions a few nights each week. If you want to join in, follow me at @UVADeanJ.

Days on the Lawn 2018 Dates (#UVA22 admitted student events!)
This afternoon, students admitted during Early Action will receive an email with information about Days on the Lawn, our admitted student events. This year, we will have six DOTLs:
Friday, March 30
Monday, April 2
Monday, April 9
Friday, April 13
Monday, April 16
Monday, April 23
These events are meant for students who are undecided. If you have already decided to join the Class of 2022 (oh my gosh, typing that makes me feel old), we ask that you make your victory lap visit on any other day in April. You'll still be able to sit in on a class, visit a dining hall, and meet current students. It just won't be so crowded.
Living his best life. |
After the morning welcome, the different academic schools hold information sessions. The smaller schools won't have sessions on every day. Architecture and Kinesiology will have sessions on March 30 and April 2, 13, and 23. Nursing will have sessions on March 30, April 13, and April 23.
The academic sessions sort of mark the end of the structured part of the day. From there, students can go sit in on classes, go to panel discussions, check out a resource fair, go on a dorm tour, visit a dining hall, and chat with the hundreds of students who volunteer as greeters during the DOTL days (they all wear a special t-shirt so you can spot them). How much you do probably has a lot to do with the shoes you're wearing. Dress comfortably! :)
There will be plenty of time to take a picture with Jack, too!
Hanging out with DOTL student team leaders |
If you were admitted during early action, a link to register for all DOTLs will arrive by email on Saturday, March 3rd. Regular Decisions applicants, don't you worry. You won't know your decisions until the end of March, but we save a chunk of the spots for the April dates for RD students. There will be a second registration just for you.
Not sure about the face Jack's making there. |
